Gary O’Neil could be sacked at Wolves as the owners are desperate for the club to remain in the Premier League by any means necessary.Wolves

This is according to former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who insisted that the likes of Graham Potter and David Moyes could now be looking at a short-term deal at Molineux.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson, who remains well-connected in the game, explained that any incoming boss will be given the task of keeping them in the Premier League first and foremost.

Should any new boss fail to do so, it has been said that they will not want to remain at the club in the Championship given the difficulties it brings.

O’Neil has faced growing pressure after a slow start to the season in which Wolves have picked up just one point from their first seven games and conceded 21 goals.

Following the dismal run of results and performances, Robinson has insisted the boss could be dismissed – despite the difficult situation he has dealt with off the field.

Wolves have faced a perilous financial situation which meant limited backing for the manager in the transfer market despite losing some of his key players.Wolves

Robinson, however, believes that excuse may not be enough to save his job if results don’t pick up, and the desperation to stay in the Premier League could lead to his exit, with Potter and Moyes lined up as potential quick replacements.
