The UK has been put on snow watch with forecasters and meteorologists saying “brace” for flurries. James Madden, from Exacta Weather, has had hits say as we approach Christmas, with meteorologists predicting plunging mercury.

In an update after WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data, showed maps and charts tuning white, Mr Madden said: The high pressure rises during this last week, current unsettled conditions, and the further high pressure rises and warmth to come, plus some pending colder blasts later…

Our earlier forecasts and updates covered quite concisely about high pressure rises during this last week (before many others), the present unsettled weather and heavy showers of recent days (a period many other forecasters were claiming would be high pressure dominated earlier this week), plus the upcoming and even more notable high pressure rises and warm weather to come, plus some colder blasts in the coming weeks.

Mr Madden said: “It will still turn colder in this period for many and as we had expected from either scenario, particularly during the evenings, and a sort of north and south divide establishes itself with the best and worst of the weather conditions over the coming days, in exception for some parts of the southwest.

He said: “Additionally, this will also pave the way for some much cooler to even colder conditions for the time of the year from the north as we head into next weekend, and this should also happen to coincide with some further stormy conditions in this period to bring some wintry weather across the far north and Scotland at the very least during next weekend and early next week.
