Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) has made a strong statement in the opening practice session of the Malaysian MotoGP, topping the timesheets ahead of title rival Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing).

Bagnaia, seeking to clinch the 2024 MotoGP World Championship, demonstrated his intent with a blistering lap time.
“I’m satisfied with our start,” Bagnaia said. “We made some adjustments and found a good rhythm.”

Martin, 23 points behind Bagnaia in the standings, remained within striking distance.
“We’re close, but there’s room for improvement,” Martin stated. “Tomorrow will be crucial.”

Fabio Quartararo, still in mathematical contention for the title, secured third spot.
“We need to work on our pace,” Quartararo said. “The bike feels good, but we can improve.”
