Pep Guardiola declared Manchester City have a problem and may have just 13 fit outfield players to take on Bournemouth this weekend.
Three Manchester City players could ease the club’s injury crisis – but Pep Guardiola will still be without plenty of senior options at Bournemouth this week.
With six players already out and with no sign of any of those returning for the trip to the South Coast, City were rocked at Tottenham with Manu Akanji’s withdrawal from the starting line up, the sight of Savinho getting stretchered off, and further doubts for Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.
Guardiola declared that City have just 13 fit players after the game, and he will hope for positive news in the build-up to the Bournemouth trip
Akanji gave an update on his fitness on Thursday, telling Sky Sports he is ‘fine’ and expects to train on Friday. They added that he expects to be available to face Bournemouth.
Similarly, Savinho is reportedly positive about his injury after leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitch on a stretcher. He may not be available at Bournemouth, but various reports suggest he will not be out for long.
And other reports are seizing upon Gvardiol’s generic post-match social media post, where he wrote: ‘We keep moving forward with full focus on Saturday!’ Gvardiol received treatment at full-time from City physios and Guardiola couldn’t offer an update on his condition immediately after the game.
