Diego Gomez is Brighton’s first and only confirmed signing of the January transfer window so far. The midfielder has joined the Seagulls for a reported £11m from Inter Miami.

Gomez played a total of 28 times for Miami this season before joining the Seagulls, contributing six goals and a further seven assists as he helped his team reach the MLS play-offs and qualify for next summer’s Club World Cup. The 21-year-old is also a Paraguay international, and represented them at the most recent Olympic Games in Paris, where they reached the quarter-finals

Gomez is yet to kick a ball for Brighton at the time of writing, but there are no doubts that he can be a valuable squad player for them. The Paraguayan can link up with fellow international teammate Julio Enciso on the pitch, and other South American talents like Brazilian Joao Pedro will also enjoy playing with him.

Brighton splashed nearly £200m on nine new players for Hurzeler in the summer transfer window, but just how many of them have worked out so far?

Georginio Rutter was the most expensive arrival to the AMEX Stadium, signing for £40m from Leeds, and he managed two goals and two assists in the first half of the campaign. .
