Pierce’s final game was a 34-20 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 18.

Mike Vrabel has been rumoured as a possible replacement for Pierce as he and Brady were team-mates with the New England Patriots.

Pierce’s dismissal follows the sackings of Doug Pederson and Jerod Mayo, from the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Patriots respectively.
