After Week 1 Clash, Commanders Prepare to Face Buccaneers as Completely Different Team
The Washington Commanders are gearing up to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2, and they’re doing so as a completely different team than the one that took the field in Week 1. After a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Commanders have made significant changes to their lineup and strategy, and they’re confident that these adjustments will pay off against the Buccaneers.
One of the biggest changes for the Commanders is the return of quarterback Sam Howell, who missed the Week 1 game due to injury. Howell is expected to start against the Buccaneers, and his presence under center will give the Commanders a much-needed boost on offense.
“We’re excited to have Sam back,” said Commanders head coach Ron Rivera. “He’s a talented quarterback who can make plays with his arm and his legs. We’re looking forward to seeing what he can do against the Buccaneers.”
In addition to Howell’s return, the Commanders have also made changes to their defensive lineup. They’ve added some new players to the mix, including defensive end Chase Young, who is expected to make his season debut against the Buccaneers.
“We’ve got some new faces on defense, and we’re excited to see what they can do,” said Rivera. “We’re looking to be more aggressive and make more plays on the ball. We think we can be a really good defense, and we’re looking forward to showing that against the Buccaneers.”
The Commanders are also looking to improve their running game, which struggled in Week 1. They’ve added some new wrinkles to their offense, including the use of more play-action passes and misdirection plays.
“We’re looking to be more creative on offense,” said Rivera. “We want to use our playmakers to make plays, and we’re looking to get our running game going. We think we can be a really good offense, and we’re looking forward to showing that against the Buccaneers.”
The Buccaneers, meanwhile, are coming off a big win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1. They’re led by quarterback Baker Mayfield, who threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
“Baker is a talented quarterback who can make plays with his arm and his legs,” said Rivera. “We’re going to have to be careful and make sure we’re covering all of our bases. We can’t let him get outside and make plays, because he’s a really good athlete.”
