Oxford United transfer blow on Norwich City player revealed

Oxford United have joined the list of teams that have taken an interest in Norwich City starlet Abu Kamara.

But according to Nick Mashiter, the player prefers a move to Hull City at this point, which could be a fatal blow for Oxford in their potential quest to get a deal over the line for the 21-year-old.

The U’s have enjoyed a very productive summer transfer window thus far – and they have strengthened nearly every position in their team following their promotion from League One.

Jamie Cumming and Matt Ingram have arrived on permanent deals to strengthen the goalkeeping department – and Jack Currie has arrived as a left-back signing.

Peter Kioso and Hidde ter Avest have come in as right-back additions – and there has been plenty of movement in the middle of the park too – with Will Vaulks, Idris El Mizouni and Louie Sibley all arriving at the Kassam Stadium.

Higher up the pitch, Marselino Ferdinan, Przemyslaw Placheta, Matt Phillips and Malcolm Ebiowei have all joined, with all of these players able to operate out wide. And up top, Dane Scarlett has come in to compete with the likes of Mark Harris and Will Goodwin for a starting spot.

Some work may still need to be done before the summer window closes, with their centre-back area ideally needing another addition and more quality potentially required in the striker department too, but it looks as though they are interested in another potential wing option, with Kamara on their radar.

Oxford have taken an interest in Kamara – but he prefers a move to Tim Walter’s Hull at this point – according to Mashiter.

Amid interest from other teams, the player handed in a transfer request and has been the subject of £2.5m bids from the Tigers and Luton Town.

Both remain in talks to recruit the player – and the latter may have the opportunity to increase their bid for him following the sale of Chiedozie Ogbene.

Norwich are in a fairly strong negotiating position considering he has plenty of time left on his contract and raised his price tag during his time at Portsmouth last term.
