Celtic have now told ‘phenomenal’ player if he can leave this week after £10m bid
Having sold Matt O’Riley for a Scottish Premiership record £30m to Brighton & Hove Albion, there could be a flurry of activity from the Hoops, with Celtic already linked with a move for Sheffield United defender Auston Trusty.
With Celtic also eyeing Arne Engels as a replacement for O’Riley, the reigning Scottish champions could be in for a chaotic final moments in the summer transfer window having already made some top moves in the market.
And the Hoops have now told one key player if he’s allowed to leave this week after a £10m bid.
Reo Hatate told he’s not leaving Celtic this summer
According to the Daily Mail, Reo Hatate has been alerted that he won’t be allowed to leave Celtic Park this summer despite a £10m bid from an unnamed Ligue 1 club this week.
Hailed as a ‘phenomenal’ player, the Japanese international has started the new Scottish Premiership season in fine form with two goals in three games, with the 26-year-old already looking like a readymade replacement for O’Riley.
And with the Danish international now gone, it makes sense why Celtic have put their foot down on Hatate leaving in the final days of the transfer window, with a top-quality replacement unlikely to be found in time.
Indeed, Hatate’s early season form has been incredibly encouraging for Celtic this campaign, and the Hoops could be making a good decision in demanding the Japanese international to stay in Glasgow until the January window.
Hatate could be grateful for Hoops’ transfer decision this summer
Whilst a move to Ligue 1 would have been a good move for a player of Hatate’s quality, the few details we know about the offer mean there’s not much we can judge on whether or not a switch to France would have been good for the Celtic man.
However, with the Hoops once again in the UEFA Champions League and Hatate showing his quality this season, the Japanese international could be grateful by Celtic’s decision to keep him around this summer for the first half of the season.
After all, Hatate is in good form and could make a name for himself in Europe with Celtic playing more games than in previous seasons, and the 25-year-old could end up becoming a household name across Britain if he keeps up his current level of form.
