The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off their bye week and will host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Things have been up and down for the Eagles thus far as they look to build some momentum.
They made a bunch of changes this week, including Cooper DeJean headed to the starting lineup. Philadelphia also decided to release linebacker Devin White after the relationship seemed to be fractured.
The Eagles now have an opportunity to bring in an athletic linebacker.
NFL News: Jabril Cox Cleared to Return to Action
According to Mike Garafolo, linebacker Jabril Cox was released by the Minnesota Vikings with an injury settlement this summer but has been cleared by doctors to return after suffering a groin injury.
Cox was a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. The LSU product entered the league as a smooth, fluid, rangy defender at the second level. He also was consistent in his pursuit angles.
He’s played for the Cowboys and Washington Commanders in the NFL, logging 10 total tackles. Things haven’t clicked for him thus far but he has all the physical traits needed to be an effective player.
The Eagles’ linebackers have been shaky this season and they just made Jeremiah Trotter Jr. the backup MIKE linebacker. They know they need to upgrade the position and Cox could be worth a dart throw for the Birds.
