When FOX kicked off its coverage of the 2024 NL Championship Series coverage between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, fans were greeted by a quick summary of their paths and the familiar studio banter of legends David Ortiz, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez.
But the person providing the rundown and directing the discussion for the studio show? Many fans didn’t recognize his voice.
It was Matt Vasgersian, a familiar voice to MLB fans — he often hosts MLB Network games and does play-by-play announcing for the Los Angeles Angels. He was previously part of ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” broadcast as well. His voice sounded different — much deeper than fans were used to
