Aston Villa, Man United and West Ham sharing same transfer mission – Two players drawing big attention.

The Champions League encounter between FC Porto and Arsenal last night provided an excellent opportunity for Premier League clubs to assess how the Dragons’ players would perform in a major game against an English team.

That’s why some of them decided to deploy scouts to Portugal. According to the publication Record, executives from Aston Villa, Manchester United, and West Ham United attended the match at the Estádio do Dragão.

There is no information on which players those teams were interested in, and none have recently been linked to Porto players, at least those on the pitch. Still, we might know who impressed last night.
Galeno has already been named the MOTM by Record and O Jogo, following his important part in Porto’s winning goal. Aston Villa, Manchester United, and West Ham may have been intrigued in his performance, therefore O Jogo writes on his future.

One of them was Alan Varela, a Porto midfielder. The Argentina international dominated the midfield and was all over the place, thwarting several Arsenal attacks. If the Gunners struggled to create plays, it was largely due to the 22-year-old’s performance.

‘The winger has been the Dragons’ symbol in this European campaign, accepting responsibility and taking risks when necessary. Yesterday’s beautiful goal put the team ahead in the play-offs and elevated the Portuguese-Brazilian to a level of greatness in the English market, where he already had status.”
This season, Manchester United was linked with Mehdi Taremi and Diogo Costa. However, the striker, whose contract expires at the end of the season, was out of the game due to an injury, and a goalkeeper does not appear to be the Red Devils’ priority right now.

West Ham were rumored to be interested in Zaidu, who is currently out for several months owing to a cruciate ligament injury. In Aston Villa’s situation, there has been no interest in any Porto player in a long time.
