JUST IN: He told me he is coming back says Brendan Rodgers…

Celtic moved 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with a 3-0 win over St Mirren on Sunday.

But after the game, a visibly annoyed Rodgers took aim at his OWN fans.

It took the Hoops 33 minutes to break down a stubborn Buddies side, and Rodgers wasn’t at all happy with the reaction from the stands as his team pushed and pushed to try and break through.

He was even less happy about the supporters chanting the name of Kieran Tierney – and hit out at a ‘lack of respect

SunSport exclusively revealed last month that Hoops hero Tierney was being eyed for a stunning return to his boyhood club.

And fans at Celtic Park on Sunday were chanting his name – something Rodgers didn’t like at all, insisting it was disrespectful to current Celts left-back Greg Taylor.

His comments sparked a fierce reaction from the Celtic fans.

Speaking for the first time since Sunday, Rodgers insisted he does NOT have any regrets over his comments and insists he has every right to speak his mind

He said: “Yeah, yeah. “I’m not going to beat about the bush when I’m talking about the bush. So I’m experienced enough to say what I think and what I feel.

“But not in a derogatory way to anyone. I’m not, as I said, I’d be the last person. Coming back to here, everything that I put myself through to come back to here. I’m so, so happy that I came back here and love my life and love my job here

“But it’s also important to be able to say what I think. Sometimes you pay not to say what you think. But there are moments when you have to.

“And I’m at a stage now in my career and my life where I don’t need to bite my tongue.”
