The NFL confirmed on Wednesday that the Indianapolis Colts will be the designated home team for the league’s first game in Berlin, Germany during the 2025 season.

The date and opponent for the matchup at Olympic Stadium will be announced when the league releases the full schedule closer to when next season starts.

The NFL is making history in Berlin, and the Colts are proud to be part of this landmark event in one of the world’s most historic cities,” said Colts owner Jim Irsay (65) in a statement. “The NFL has become a global brand, and we’re looking forward to growing American football in Germany and expanding Colts Nation’s footprint around the world. This game also provides a unique opportunity for our local Indiana partners to engage with German businesses, customers and fans this season and in the future.”

Olympic Stadium has previous history with the NFL. From 1990 to 1994, there were a handful of American Bowl games played there as did the original Berlin Thunder team of the mid-2000s back when the NFL had its own Euro league.
