Simone Biles has been embracing adventure ever since she returned from the Paris Olympics with four medals. The icon of gymnastics has her valuable time off to everywhere. From NYC to Georgia and now Switzerland. And joining her on this fun trip is none other than husband Jonathon Owens. Biles has been soaking in the postcard-perfect scenery of Switzerland. And sharing glimpses of their cozy getaway with fans. And with both partners being elite athletes, this getaway came after a long time.

Recently, Biles also took to her Instagram to confirm her Swiss vacation. She posted a serene morning shot captioned, “Good morning, Switzerland.” The couple, wrapped in matching puffer jackets, strolled through the charming streets, making the most of their time together before returning to their rigorous athletic schedules. Their trip follows a whirlwind year for Biles, who not only dominated in Paris. But was also honored as Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year as she achieved the status of gymnastics GOAT.

However, as it appears, getaways like these have always been part of Biles’ vision. Even as a teenager, when her life revolved around gymnastics, she dreamed of indulging in the world’s most breathtaking destinations. At 19, just after giving up her NCAA eligibility and turning professional, she was asked to think of something she had always wanted. While she had spent years aiming for Olympic gold, her answer had nothing to do with gymnastics. She longed for a vacation.

And now, nearly a decade later, Biles no longer has to wonder if she can afford such a dream. She has made her teenage dreams a perfect reality. And that too with her husband, of all people. Switzerland is just the latest stop in her journey, proving that while gymnastics may have been her first love, travel has always been a close second.

The European retreat that Simone has now embarked upon brings back memories of a long-held dream from Biles’ past. A dream that she decided to talk about in her book ‘Courage to Soar. Back in 2015, just after she relinquished her NCAA eligibility and turned professional, she was asked to think of something she had always wanted. At the time, barely 19 Biles admitted she had little idea about the world outside her sport. But after some thought, she revealed that she wanted to take a tropical vacation.
