Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and kicker Harrison Butker are tied for the fourth-longest tenures with the team at eight years.

That only trails tight end Travis Kelce (12), long snapper James Winchester (10), and defensive tackle Chris Jones (nine). Both Mahomes and Butker are still just 29-years-old and have already accomplished so much.

When they take the field in just under two weeks during Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles, the duo will add another notch on their belts. As Greg Harvey of Stats Perform pointed out on X, Mahomes and Butker will become the first players in NFL history to play in five Super Bowls before the age of 30

That is an incredible feat for both guys, making the big game 62.5 percent of the time throughout their careers. They have both played vital roles in the Chiefs reaching each Super Bowl. With a win over Philadelphia, only Charles Haley (5) and Tom Brady (7) will have more championships to their names than Mahomes and Butker.

Haley was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015, and Brady will be a first-ballot selection in 2028. Most would agree that Mahomes has already reached Hall of Fame status as a three-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Super Bowl MVP, and two-time regular season MVP, not to mention countless other records that he holds.

Butker has a ways to go before being considered a legitimate Hall of Fam candidate, but it isn’t out of the question that he could get there. He owns two Super Bowl records – most total field goals made (nine), and the longest field goal made (57 yards). Butker also set the record for most field goals made by a rookie in 2017 with 38, and has won five Special Teams Player of the Week awards.

There are only four kickers in the Hall of Fame, making it an uphill battle for Butker even if he continues to have a great career. The only legacy on his and Mahomes’ minds right now is the Chiefs becoming the first team in NFL history to three-peat. Whether they do or not, Mahomes and Butker still have plenty of good football ahead of them.
