Red Sox Executive Loves Compete Level Of Top Prospects.

Alex Cora made it his job to focus spring training on competitiveness for the Boston Red Sox, from major league starters to the next generation of minor league talent.

Boston’s brightest prospects, including Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kyle Teel, have welcomed the opportunity to work hard and improve the players around them. According to a new post by MLB Pipeline’s Sam Dykstra, the Red Sox system’s top three has bought in ahead of the 2023 season.

“I think the selling point is saying, hey, Kyle, Roman, Nick Yorke, Miguel Bleis, all of our players, you’re going to be working together, competing against each other, supporting each other,” said Red Sox director of player development Brian Abraham to Dykstra recently. “So let’s get better together.”

With so much skill in the program, Abraham witnessed multiple Red Sox prospects pushing each other to new heights in an effort to be the best they could be.

“I think if you watch our training environments down here in spring training or in Portland last year, they’re competing,” Abraham confided to Dykstra. “They want to see who can hit the ball harder, run quicker, and have a better at-bat throughout the game. It’s more than just wanting to be a good or great player; it’s about being the best Boston Red Sox player.

With the “Big Three” leading the way, 2024 will be another thrilling year to watch the next generation of Red Sox talent emerge from one of the sport’s strongest farm systems.
