They're afraid to look Cardiff City in the eye!' – Turkish media rave about Erol Bulut, who is 'rocking England' and 'can't be stopped' - Wales Online

KV Kortrijk manager Freyr Alexandersson has admitted he would love to manage Cardiff City and his dream would be to take them into the Premier League.

Alexandersson is on a high after his Kortrijk side avoided relegation to the Belgian second tier at the weekend thanks to a play-off win over Manchester City feeder club Lommel.

The Icelandic former centre-back was Kortrijk’s third manager of the season during a disastrous campaign which almost saw them drop out of the Belgian top flight. He was recruited back in January after impressive work in Denmark with Lyngby Boldklub.

He arrived in Lyngby in 2021 and steered the club to a second-placed finish in his first season, achieving promotion to the Danish top flight. He was also praised for his work in keeping them in the top flight the following year.

And he has worked wonders at Kortrijk this season, with many believing they looked nailed on to drop down in the Challenger Pro League. Thankfully, with the help of Cardiff loanees Isaak Davies, Sheyi Ojo and Ryotaro Tsunoda, KVK maintained Pro League status.

While KVK is, of course, in Vincent Tan’s football club portfolio, along with FK Sarajevo, Cardiff City is clear the jewel in that particular crown. The links between Cardiff and KVK, whose CEO is also the Bluebirds’ CEO in Ken Choo, appeared to grow stronger this season after a failed sale of the club last year, with the Welsh club utilising the Belgian side to help give players game time.

Whether that extends to swapping managers, however, is another conversation all together. At the time of writing, Cardiff’s position is poised delicately, with Erol Bulut still not having agreed a deal to take charge of the club next season. It leaves Cardiff in a state of flux.
