Bryan King claims Everton could end up accepting a £30million offer for Jarrad Branthwaite.
The ex player feels Manchester United are the only club likely to make a move for the centre-back.
It comes after a report in talkSPORT (29 May) revealed that United are “confident” of getting a deal done for Branthwaite for as little as £40million.
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes the fee could end up being even less.
“I think Everton will need to accept United’s offer,” King said.
“I can’t see anyone else offering that type of money for Branthwaite.
I am not convinced Branthwaite will become a top defender, but Manchester United need a centre-back, and I think the club will have to accept their offer due to their financial situation.
“I think it could be lower than £40million, perhaps £30million plus add-ons.
Either way, Everton’s stance needs to soften.”
Everton could be forced to accept reduced-fee for Jarrad Branthwaite
The Toffees need money, that is not a secret.
United are well aware of this, and the more time that passes, the more likely Everton are to accept a cut-price bid.
As a result, it is incredibly difficult to see Branthwaite remaining at Goodison Park beyond the summer.
In other Everton news, the club are subject to takeover interest in the Middle East.
