Miami Dolphins LT Terron Armstead shares pass-blocking secrets at OL Masterminds summit

Terron Armstead hasn’t played 6,914 snaps of professional football over the last 11 seasons on accident. One of the league’s top offensive linemen, the five-time Pro Bowl left tackle surrendered just two sacks over two seasons with the Miami Dolphins.

Armstead, 32, has allowed just 22 career sacks since being drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft — that’s only two quarterback takedowns each year.

Miami’s cornerstone left tackle spent some time at the seventh-annual Offensive Line Masterminds summit and shared some secrets to his sustained success in the NFL.

“First thing out of my stance, I am going to take my chest to my inside hand,” Armstead said. “I want to land my inside hand on [the pass rusher’s] inside half. Anything threatening to my inside half, I’m knocking it down.

“As I’m taking my set, my inside hand is protecting my inside half… bull or longarm — I’m knocking it down.”

Armstead has battled through injuries to be a driving force on the offensive line. He also displays the wisdom and patience to guide the next generation of linemen.

“He’s a mentor of the game,” Dolphins rookie left tackle Patrick Paul said of Armstead last month. “One of the things he told me that I can relate to is the small victories every day. Win your set. Don’t just try to get it all done in one day.

Former Tennessee Titans QB Could Go Unsigned

Over the last two seasons, Tannehill has dealt with injuries and eventually was benched for rookie quarterback Will Levis. It’s understandable why the Titans decided to move forward with Levis, as the team reached their ceiling with Levis. However, that ceiling was quite high.

Tannehill led the Titans to the playoffs in three consecutive seasons from 2019 to 2021, where they even reached an AFC Championship Game. Despite being unable to capitalize on those seasons, Tannehill played some of his best football and led the Titans’ offense to two top-10 finishes in those three years. Those years were Tannehill’s best, so seeing him still on the open market is shocking.
