Weston play their fifth pre-season friendly as they host Cardiff City Under 21s this Saturday, 27th July. The match at the Optima Stadium kicks off at 1pm.
It’s been a good pre-season so far for Weston, with highly competitive fixtures taking place, the latest of which was against Bristol City Under 21s on Tuesday night in a 1-1 draw at the Optima Stadium. Reuben Reid opened the scoring for The Seagulls with an early goal, before that lead was cancelled out midway through the first-half.
Cardiff City have become fairly regular visitors to the Optima in recent years, and played here in BS24 last July as both teams prepared for their respective seasons. The young Bluebirds won by four goals to one on that occasion as Weston prepared for life back in National League South.
Summer signings Kelland Absalom, Luke Coulson, Morgan Lewis and James Waite have all played for Cardiff at various stages of their career, and all are likely to line up against their former side.
With just a fortnight to go until the start of the new league campaign, it is another important game for the Weston players, with places in the team for the Worthing game on August 10 up for grabs.

For pre-season games the Season Ticket Holders’ Car Park will be unavailable – on showing your 2024/2025 Season Ticket Holder Car Park Pass you will be given free parking in the Supporters’ Car Park.
We have a fair sized car park at the stadium, with a limited amount of match day parking for Blue Badge holders – if a Blue Badge space is required we recommend as early an arrival as possible.
Once the car park is full, we ask all supporters to park responsibly in two nearby industrial estates, which are a 5-10 minute walk from the Optima Stadium. Supporters are asked not to park on the housing estate opposite the club.
We are only able to accommodate the official away team players/officials coach within the Optima Stadium car park.
Any supporters’ minibus or coach needs to make prior arrangement for parking details.
