Leeds United has probably lost the race for Premier League defender loan
Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Hugo Bueno probably won’t play at Elland Road this season. Leeds United have been following the defender’s situation at Molineux and would like to have him on loan for the season.
The Whites face stiff competition from Netherlands’s Feyenoord and Scotland’s Celtic. Both the clubs can provide an agreed-upon playing time for the defender, unlike Leeds.
Bueno will look forward to having regular playtime elsewhere as two full-backs stand in his way at Molineux. Rayan Aït-Nouri and Matt Doherty have been in great form and they’ll probably be the starters under Gary O’Neil.Despite limited opportunities, Wolves consider the Spaniard an important part of their plan this season. They’d probably like extra cover at the back in order to avoid unforeseen circumstances.
Leeds United will have to come up with an effective blueprint supporting their plans for the defender. If they can’t offer decisive play time then The West Yorkshire outfit is probably off the cards in Wolves’ eyes.
The Whites would like more than one reinforcement down the wings as only three full-backs currently play at Elland Road. Sam Byram, Junior Firpo and Jayden Bogle are the only assets Farke has down the wings.
As mentioned Marijn says that the Dutch giants would like to get a deal done this week. This is obviously due to the urgency the club is in following an injury crisis.Leeds United aren’t on the front foot in regards to the Spanish defender. They have their eyes on other prospective players for now. But, if they would like more full-backs in the squad they’ll have to start taking this deal seriously.
Firpo will be first choice for however long he is fit and so Leeds need to be on the lookout for a player who would, perhaps, be happy to come in and be second choice.
