Tottenham Hotspur have not been afraid to splash the cash on youngsters under Ange Postecoglou, with Archie Gray sealing a £30million switch from Leeds United earlier in this summer transfer window. The Greek-Australian tactician has also seen his club hijack Barcelona’s pursuit of Lucas Bergvall and sign the Swedish talent in an from Djurgardens after an agreement was reached earlier this year.
With the transfer window in full swing, plenty of young talents have been linked with Spurs. One of those has been Besiktas starlet Semih Kilicsoy. One of the highly-rated young talents in Turkish football, Semih Kilicsoy has caught the eye of several European clubs with his goalscoring exploits for Besiktas last season. He bagged 11 goals in 20 league starts for the Turkish side.
Spurs have also followed the progress of Semih Kilicsoy since his breakout season at Besiktas. They had scouts seemingly kept a close watch on the teenager throughout Turkiye’s campaign at the 2024 European Championships in Germany, although he only managed just a minute on the pitch during their 2-1 quarter-final defeat to the Netherlands.
The move turned out to be good as Pereira finally managed to cement his position. He emerged as a key performer for Fulham over the past couple of seasons. In the 2023-24 campaign, he featured in 44 games, netting three goals and providing nine assists.
Chelsea have been very active during the transfer window so far. They don’t want to leave any opportunity to strengthen the squad before the new season begins. While they have already got some excellent names at their disposal, they aren’t willing to stop anytime soon.
The Blues are interested in signing Andreas Pereira before 31st August. The pursuit makes sense as they were over-dependent upon Cole Palmer to score goals last season. That surely affected their scoring rate and hence, the chances of lifting the titles.
Hence, the arrival of Pereira can ease Palmer’s role in the middle of the mark. Moreover, the 28-year-old’s presence will also benefit the youngsters in the squad. The Blues can sign him for around £25 million, which isn’t a big amount for them.
