West Ham have suffered ‘big blow’ after off-field deal agreed – Stefan Borson
West Ham will be disappointed to have missed out on a potential stadium naming rights deal with Allianz.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it will have come as a “big blow” for the East Londoners because there aren’t many companies around looking to take on stadium sponsorships
The London Legacy Development Corporation has previously been criticised for not securing a sponsor for the home of the 2012 Olympic Games.
BBC Sport reported in November last year Allianz was the leading contender to secure the naming rights for the London Stadium and negotiations were at an advanced stage.
But The Times reported on 6 August that Twickenham – the home stadium of England rugby – has now beaten West Ham to a deal with the German insurance providerWest Ham could face issues landing stadium naming rights deal
Borson suggested it’s unlikely Allianz will look to secure another deal with the Premier League club after already agreeing terms for one London-based stadium.
Two West Ham United players in particular have already made a big impression on new-boy Max Kilman.
Signed for £40 million from Wolves last month, Max Kilman will undoubtedly be a permanent fixture for West Ham this season and beyond. It has actually been claimed that he’s even under consideration to become the new Hammers captain.
Kilman has been joined at the London Stadium by a plethora of additional new signings. It really has been all change at the club this summer.
Julen Lopetegui has been a man on fire in the summer transfer window so far, and has brought in eight new players, including the pending arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The really exciting thing is that the Hammers head coach isn’t done yet either. We can expect more new arrivals at the club over the next couple of weeks, as well as some outgoings.
What a squad the Spaniard is assembling, with plenty of incredible new signings to compliment the vast array of sensational talent we already had at the club.
