The Canaries once again displayed a soft underbelly that enabled Blackburn to rescue a point three minutes from time after they worked hard to get themselves in front courtesy of strikes from Josh Sargent and Borja Sainz.
City have now conceded seven times in their opening three matches of the campaign and will need to find a solution to their defensive deficiencies that remain a blot on their progress.
Doyle, who joined Norwich earlier this summer from Manchester City, has committed to a proper dissection with his defensive colleagues in order to become more sturdy as they grow into the Championship campaign.
“It’s disappointing. We came back and did so well in the second half, so to concede like that is so disappointing,” the Manchester City loanee said post-match.
Doyle believes the work done since that defeat helped enable the green shoots that were visible during Saturday’s clash against Blackburn. We had really good chances. We have to take them early on because football in this league is mental. We did a lot better with them in second half,” Doyle said.
“I think we’ve got more in our locker. The Oxford game, looking back at it, we were off it, but today we’ve shown good passages of play and shown the fans what we can do. We had a look at that game. As lads, we got together and said it wasn’t good enough. Today we tried to show what we’re about.”
“As the back four, we don’t like to concede, and it’s for us to have a meeting together, group up and talk about these goals so we can be better for next week. “It’s a point gained for us, but it feels like you’ve lost, especially when conceding in the last few minutes. We came out well in the second half and done really well to get in front. It’s just one of those things.”
The performance more generally represented an undeniable step forward for City, who were comfortably beaten by newly promoted Oxford United last weekend in a concerning manner.
“As the back four, we don’t like to concede, and it’s for us to have a meeting together, group up and talk about these goals so we can be better for next week.
