AFC Wimbledon succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against the new kids on the block in League Two, Bromley.
Wimbledon fell behind in the 34th minute – Michael Cheek slotting an effort past Owen Goodman on the edge of the penalty area.
On the hour mark, Corey Whitely doubled Bromley’s lead and secured all three points for the Ravens.
After their remarkable comeback against Colchester last weekend, and a 2-1 victory over Bromley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, going three unbeaten at the start of the season was a step too far for the Dons.
Inefficiency in attack and sloppy play in possession were at the forefront for Johnnie Jackson’s side in their two-goal defeat, with the final ball frequently evading the Dons.
Supplying his verdict on Saturday’s loss, Jackson said: “I think we lacked the final ball, the final cross. We had some really good situations that we didn’t make the most of. We hit the post in the first half, that could go in. It’s not really gone for us today.
We had more possession, more shots, corners and final third entries, but we didn’t have enough to show for that. We got done in transition in two moments for their goals – it’s disappointing.
“It’s easily a game on another day that we get something from. I don’t think we have come here and been played off the park or been dominated. But they had the better moments.
“There has been a bit of a drop-off today, but not a huge drop-off, so we can’t overreact.
“They were really good when the ball was turned over. They allowed us to have possession at times today, and the first goal came from a counter-attack. For the second goal, we allowed the lad to travel too far with the ball – we should have put a tackle or a foul in earlier.
“I’m disappointed in those moments, but we had enough possession in their half to get something.”
The Ravens went further ahead 14 minutes into the start of the second half, with Corey Whitely doubling the advantage.
