A bad mistake Chris Sutton reacts to Jon Rowe’s Norwich City decision as Marseille close in
Rowe enjoyed an outstanding breakthrough campaign at Carrow Road last season, and he played a crucial role as the Canaries reached the Championship play-offs, where they were beaten by Leeds United in the semi-finals.
Norwich City target Reinier with midfield signing close
Real Madrid winger Reinier is a target for Norwich City in their pursuit for a replacement for Jonny Rowe, but any deal will be tough to complete.
The Brazilian winger, along with a host of other names, is under consideration but, as per anyone on Real Madrid’s books, a deal will be tough, but not impossible, for Norwich to strike.
As first reported by Globo Esporte, City have investigated the parameters of a potential loan to buy deal. Whilst any move would be unlikely, it is not considered dead at this stage.
The 22-year-old joined Real Madrid in 2020 from Flamengo, but hasn’t made a senior appearance for the Spanish juggernauts. He has scored twice in three appearances for their second side.
Reinier has spent the bulk of his time at Madrid out on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Girona and most recently in Serie A with Frosinone. The attacker scored three and assisted two in 23 matches in Italy.
The winger is someone who has been monitored by City for a prolonged period of time.
Norwich are ramping up their search for a wide option after agreeing a deal with Marseille for Jonathan Rowe.
City and the French club have agreed a loan with an obligation to buy for £14m, plus a potential £3m in add-ons. The Canaries have also inserted 25pc sell-on clause into the deal.
It’s understood City are closing in on an as yet unnamed central midfield target and that a deal could be completed as early as the end of this week.
