Leeds United to sign Tottenham ace Manor Solomon as wage terms emerge in significant update

Leeds United are expected to pay a “significant” amount of Manor Solomon’s wages once he joins on loan, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The paper reported via the website on 23 August that the Tottenham man’s expected season-long switch to Elland Road is due after he was deemed surplus to requirements at the Premier League side.

Solomon, 25, only featured six times for Spurs last term but “excelled” on loan at Fulham the season before.

The move is on the brink of going through according to agent Paul O Keefe (23 August), with Fabrizio Romano reporting that a medical would be done on Saturday 24 August.

Daniel Farke set for second of four Leeds United signings wanted

According to TEAMtalk (14 May) the Israel international is on £60,000-a-week at Spurs so it looks like it will be a fairly costly loan, assuming nothing unexpected emerges during the medical.

But after losing the star quality of both Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter this summer, while taking in more than £100million in transfer fees as Archie Gray and Glen Kamara are among other key men to leave there is a need to be ambitious.

Solomon’s career has been disrupted since leaving Shakhtar Donetsk amid special FIFA rules allowing players to leave Ukraine after the Russian invasion, and his eventual move to Tottenham clearly hasn’t worked out yet.

If he ends up at Elland Road this summer he will want to emulate Joe Rodon in getting a career back on track, and potentially finding some long-term stability in the way the Welsh centre-back has after completing a permanent move off the back of his own loan.

The Whites have left themselves very little time to finish restocking the squad after losing so many players this summer, so it will be late-window scramble for the second year running.

But after securing Largie Ramazani from Almeria on a permanent deal Daniel Farke looks set to be given a second new attacker.

In other Leeds United news, a move away is being worked on for another Whites star before the deadline.
