According to reports, Nathan Patterson will consult a doctor on the severity of his hamstring injury.
In the latter moments of Everton’s humiliating 6-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier this week, the right-back was substituted off. With his groin injured, Patterson had replaced Seamus Coleman at halftime.
The 22-year-old was playing for the Toffees for the first time since representing Scotland during the international break three weeks ago, and it was his first outing in almost two months. And Patterson was injured and unable to play during the build-up to Chelsea’s sixth goal in stoppage time, which was scored by Alfie Gilchrist. After Jarrad Branthwaite was substituted halfway through the second half, Everton manager Sean Dyche acknowledged that Patterson’s problem was “more serious” than Coleman’s.
Patterson is scheduled to see a specialist in London this weekend, according to the Daily Mail. His prospects of competing for Scotland in the European Championships this summer are reportedly “wafer thin.” Should that be the case, Patterson could not be able to play in Everton’s remaining six games of the season as they fight to stay in the Premier League.
The Blues face Nottingham Forest, who are now two points above the relegation zone, in a crucial match on Sunday at Goodison Park. During his pre-game news conference this afternoon, Dyche will provide an update on Patterson’s injury.
