“Orlando Pirates can confirm that Fortune Makaringe will be leaving the club. Following four incredible seasons and over 140 matches, our journey with the 31-year-old midfielder has come to an end. Words cannot fully express our gratitude and appreciation for Makaringe,” the club said, as cited by the Sowetan.

“Throughout his time with us, he consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism and discipline. The club will always be grateful for his contribution and wishes him nothing but the best in his future endeavours,” Orlando Pirates added.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers have reportedly signed Selaelo Rasebotja from SuperSport United. While other reports have incorrectly claimed Rasebotja has replaced Thabang Monare, the 23-year-old Rasebotja plays as a number 8 or 10, the same postition as Makaringe. Monare was a defensive midfielder/number 6. Therefore Rasebotja will replace Makaringe, not Monare. Thalente Mbatha, who plays as a 6, is the player that replaced Monare.

According to the seasoned SABC Sport reporter Mazola Molefe, the 23-year-old Rasebotja has joined Orlando Pirates as a free agent. His deal with Matsatsantsa is ending on the 30th.

“SABC Sport can reveal that Orlando Pirates have swooped in on midfielder Selaelo Rasebotja, who joins the Soweto giants on a free transfer,” Molefe reported.

“Rasebotja was promoted from the SuperSport United academy at the start of the 2020/21 season, under then coach Kaitano Tembo, and payed a bit-part role at the Tshwane side.

“However, with the 23-year-old due to become a free agent at the end of this month, Pirates have moved swiftly to rope him in to bolster coach Jose Riveiro’s squad,” the report added.
